if the door is glass, try scraping it with a razor blade first to get the worst of the scale off. then soak it with clr and let it sit for an hour.
go back every 15 min and resoak or spray more clr on it.
after an hour, rinse with a wet cloth and then wipe with vinegar.
you may have to do this a number of times but eventually it will come off.
Most people wait until too much scale is built up before trying to remove it. remember, the scale did not get there in just one day.
Also, there are other products on the market that you can use to prevent scale build up after you have it removed. Usually you just spray the product on the glass after you take a shower and the scale never builds up.

Did you apply the CLR as directed? I use a 50/50 mixture, let sit 5 minutes, wipe with a scour pad and rinse with cold water and never have any trouble. If that doesn't work, I'd say, get new doors!! Good luck! (and don't inhale too much chemical fumes!)

Have you tried CLR? Oh! Yes you have. Be persistent. It took weeks for me to remove sprinkler spatter on a 1905 home's windows. It's nasty. You need to protect yourself (read the lable). But it works on even the nastiest.

you can try lemon oil. can get anyplace, even the grocery store. it is a furniture polish, but also removes hard water / limescale, etc.

if anything you're trying isn't working, at all, are you sure it is stains and not marks left by scratching or discoloring?

I use an abrasive cleanser, like Ajax or Comet. It works great with just a little scrubbing.

x14 toilet bowl cleaner removes it easily! I have used it for years just don't leave it on chrome fixtures for very long or it will discolor them!
