Usually doc's don't do the first ultrasound until week 10. Don't worry, the heart is too small to be heard.

Sometime it is difficult to hear or even locate it that early with a regular ultrasound. There is a lot of noise going on inside there and the baby is about the size of a bean. If you are really bothered ask your doctor if there is any way you can get a vaginal sonogram. I went through fertility treatments and had those about 2 - 3 times a week for awhile. After having one miscarriage,We had a scare at six weeks with our second pregnancy and everyone thought I was having a miscarriage, but they did a vaginal sonogram and his heartbeat was load and strong as could be. Went on to have a perfectly healthy boy. Best wishes to you!

By twenty days a baby in the uterus has a heartbeat of 150 bpm or twice that of the mother, but's it's ok b/c at 6 weeks your lucky if you can even get an image of it on the ultrasound. there is no need to worry.

Did the doctor do any further testing??
If it is normal for a 6wk to have a heartbeat, then the doctor should have told you something was wrong.
"Although it is almost impossible to detect, the embryo has a heartbeat at 6wks"

Soo, you probably just can't detect it this early on...
Everything is okay..
If you ever have any other concerns or questions, you shouldn't be afraid to ask your doctor. He/she is the main person who knows you and your body. He/she can tell you more of whats going on than others who don't know your exact situation!

Good Luck and Congrats!

I'm not sure you would be able to see the heart beat so early.. Did your OB seem concerned? They don't usually give ultrasounds at 6 weeks.. its still pretty early. At 12 weeks you can try to find the heartbeat to listen to it.

I think your baby is fine- sometime the doctor cant even hear the heartbeat with his scope until the 12th week.
I never actually saw the heart beating at my ultrasounds either.
Im sure if there was a problem, the doctor would have alerted you.

It's perfectly normal at 6wks. The heartbeat is not strong enough at 6 wks. Did your doctor say it was OK?

it is fine sugar. my ob didnt do an ultrasound until i was like 8 weeks. his reason was because there wasnt much chance of hearing the heartbeat before then.

I didn't have an ultrasound that early so I am not sure but I know that they did not hear my babies heart beat until I was almost 14 weeks.

Usually they won't be able to detect the heartbeat until 11weeks. If there was anything wrong they would have let you know. So relax and enjoy. Congrats!
