I just found out that my boyfriend, or should I say Ex-BF cheated on me a lot of times. He's in jail right now for a DUI, but I still want to be his friend. Because he means a lot to me, and it's hard moving on. I've been crying these last couple of days because of it. I wrote him a letter today telling him that I trusted him, and that I guess he never really loved me back the way I loved him because of what he did. So I broke up with him in this letter, I told him that I needed to move on, but if he ever needed to talk to someone to give me a call, and that I would still be there for him, but only as a friend. I went to visit him Sunday and I asked him if he cheated on me, he said that he didn't. But his friends and Ex-GF told me different. I don't know what I should do. My family keeps telling me that even though he was nice, that he was a loser for letting me go, and for doing that to me. Do you guys think that me trying to be his friend still is a bad idea?

Yes. Bad idea. Let him go. Sounds like you are trying to hold onto him more out of fear of letting go.

Try and move on with this guy out of your life. He didn't do right by you, and you need to just heal from this experience and meet some men who will treat you right. It is NOT in your best interests to stay friends with him. You need more emotional distance from him. Maybe in six months, a year, you could do it. (if you are even interested at that point) Right now - no.

Yes!!! Only because you are still a sucker for him right now. If you believe that he cheated on you ....then you need to do what is right for you and stopo worrying about him. I am sure he was not worried about you at all when he was hooking up with this other person. So stand up tall and don't accept being second best. He is crying the jail bird blues because he does not want to be alone while he is in jail.

Okay.
I got cheated on by my ex,
And am still friends with him.

It was hard being friends with him though.
Kuz the fact that he cheated on me meant we broke up..
And I still wanted him.

But the fact that he cheated on you,
I suggest you don't be friends with him.
He's an ***.

With the letter you wrote.
That was good.
Well done.
Appart from the bit about if he wanted to talk to you,
He could call you.

You need to make him feel as if he's done something wrong,
And not let him get away with it.

But anyway.
Good luckk.

Yes. It's too soon to be "friends". He needs to get his life together, and you need to move on. It should take you a long time to trust him again, especially since it sounds like he's still lying to you. I go along with your family. They love you and want to protect you. Cut the ties with him for awhile; see how you feel after a few months have passed.

You need to find out for sure if he actually cheated on you. Don't take the word of his Ex-g/f...she may be wanting to get back together with him and wanted you out of the way. Maybe his friends like his Ex-g/f and are going along with her. You need to consider the source.

It is not a bad thing to remain as friends, but you have to truly be over him for a friendship to work. You need to move on and find someone else. He sounds like trouble anyway.

You need to take a break from seeing him and give yourself time-he did cheat on you--obviously and time will make it better--it is very, very hard to let go of someone you love--but you are better that this heartache. You will find someone worthy of you.

Get over him first and then later friendship will follow and then you can make the decision if you still want him in your life. Take a break from him and do the normal things that we girls do to get over him.

Ya don't be his friend. It's best to stir away from that situation so you don't later want to go out with him again and he cheat on you again.
