Spent all my free time with my dear friend at the hospital, stayed during all chemo treatments, and talked all night if thats what it took! It was worth it! It cost me nothing, the one thing we can give is our time to another u cannot buy that in any store, I wish more friends as well as parents would realize that. The most precious gift we can give is ourselves. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

When I ask myself the answer that emerges is not the obvious one. I give money but this did not break the surface, even when it hurts.

What came up is was when I take an ego hit when there is no benefit to me. An example would be not defending myself. Or for the common good.

I think progress is predicated on this. See Tragedy of the commons on the link below.

By the way, I try to tip secretly. It takes practice to act selflessly. If you are interested in refining you thoughts on whether selfless behavior is possible, look at Mill on utilitarianism.

I won't tell those selfless acts are what get me to sleep at night and I don't like sharing them. I've seen a lot of messed up things in this world and do all that I can to even the balance.

Probably to pay the ultimate sacrifice, knowing that the very kind you paid it for will mock your remembrance... - either that or denying it alltogether.
