my girlfriend and I are afraid she could be pregnant. Her last period was on the 8th of December, we had intercourse on the suggested day of her ovulation (unknowingly) and Jan 10th rolled around and no period. We took a ept certainty digital pregnancy test and it came out saying "pregnant" the very next day she had what she said felt like a normal period though, she'd never paid too much attention to it in the past to know if it was different. We then took a First Response pegnancy test, one with the lines, and the lines came out saying she wasn't pregnant. I'm 20 and she's 19, she still lives with her parents and fears if they got wind of the ordeal they'd throw her out. My question is, could she still be pregnant? Do I need to take her to see a doctor and risk her parents getting wind of it? Or could the digital of given us a false positive? And the use of the second pregnancy test, on what felt like the first day of a normal period telling us she wasn't, be enough to say she isn't?

Hey, I got a positive test but my period started anyway! Huh? Since some HPT's are so sensitive, they can detect a pregnancy in its very early stages. Unfortunately, it's estimated that up to 50% of pregnancies are lost very early on. In the past, most women did not even realize they were pregnant-- their periods would arrive on time, or perhaps a day or two late. Now, women testing very early may get a positive test, but experience bleeding almost immediately afterwards. This is an early miscarriage, also referred to as a "chemical pregnancy." It is likely that you did conceive and the embryo implanted for a short time before dying. This miscarriage is "disguised" as a period because the bleeding happens right around the time you would expect your period. Because this is so common, you probably have nothing to worry about, medically speaking, if it happens to you once or twice (although it is still heartbreaking when it happens!) If, however, this happens to you more than a couple times, or in consecutive pregnancies, you should discuss it with your doctor, as this can signal a problem (which can oftentimes be corrected with minimal treatment.)

That said, it is also possible to experience some spotting or bleeding and still have a healthy pregnancy, so don't panic! It may be implantation bleeding (from your baby snuggling in your uterus for a nice long stay!) If you experience bleeding after a positive pregnancy test, you should call your doctor.

I took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. If you suspect you have a true false positive (meaning you did not conceive and still got a positive

Digital test do not usually give out false pregnancy test. Take her to a doctor. She could have had a miscarriage and the doctors will need to examine her. Also, have them give her a blood test to confirm it. Good luck either way. Also, the other test may not have been as sensitive as the other one. If there is a positive you should ALWAYS assume a person is pregnant and get to see a doctor. Please make sure she sees a doctor. If she is having or had a miscarriage they may need to make sure she miscarried fully. They may have to do a D and C or the baby could be perfectly fine and not be getting the nutrients and care he/she needs.

I believe she had a miscarriage. There is no way she could have received a false positive. Something like 40 - 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage during the first 6 weeks of pregnancy.

I'd say wait a week and take another test just to be sure, but it sounds almost impossible for her to be pregnant now.

It's called a Chemical Pregnancy...

"A chemical pregnancy is a miscarriage that happens within a week or so of the due menstrual period. I have read that as many as 8 out of 10 women have either experienced one or will experience one in their lifetime. A lot of times, these early miscarriages are overlooked as a heavy menstrual bleeding and or a period that lasts a little longer than usual."

There is no such thing as a false negative. Even if she believes she had a "normal" period she could still be pregnant. I know plenty of people who have had there period five months into there pregnancy. Plus it could have been implantation bleeding. You don't have to take her to a doctor. You can take her to your couty's health department or a family planning center if there are any around.

you should never risk not know the truth. what you guys should do is take her to a planned parent hood clinic. all the pregnancy tests there are free and her parents will never find out. you should also ask them to do the pregnancy test with her blood sample cause those regular ones that you pee on are never 100% right. good luck.

Either see a doctor and find out for sure or wait it out.
