The Pirates signed Randa to a one year deal in December of 05. He played most of the early season in 2006 before he got injured, which opened the door for the eventual NL batting champion Freddy Sanchez. Because of Freddy's emergence, the Pirates didnt really have room for Randa. Randa announced his retirement in November of 2006.
