Pyramids are triangular, and procreation can be represented by triangles (the Star of David), the upward pointing triangle being the male, the downward being the female. Also, according to geomancy and feng shui, the flow of energy due to a pyramid/triangle decrease negative energies, and the ancients (aztecs, incans, egyptians) were big on geomancy and energies. So, the whole energy part of it, and the fact that pyramids point to the heavens, could show relevance with religion.
