I am a junior in high school and i play shortstop and outfield. I'm pretty good for high school and I want to make it to a d-1 school as a walk on or hopefully a scholarship. What's the best way to get noticed other than obviously, playing well.

Discuss your ambitions w your HS coach. He may have some good contacts w college coachs you could use. He may also know some other coachs in your area who have ha dgood experience getting their players into D1 programs.

When not playing for your school hook up w an American Legion team in your area & seek advice from those coachs.

I founded & ran a team that played in a summer wooden bat collegiate league (Clark Griffith League) for a few years & we had guys on our club from D1 & D3 schools. There are a number of similar leagues around the country. Ours was 20 & under...some others like the Cape Cod league are 22 & under. Playing for one of these clubs would give you experience & exposure as pro scouts come around a few times a year to check some prospect or another.

Lastly, if you have a couple of schools in mind go check out a few of their games (if it's possible distance wise) & talk to a few of the players for advice on how they got into the program.

Keep practicing, keep your grades up, & you'll do it! Good Luck!

Keep up good grades and play good enough in high school to get offered a college scholarship to play baseball there or go to college and try out for the varsity team. Then if you do really well, the scouts will come looking for you and you could possible get drafted by a major league team.

Make some brilliant photoshop work of Manny Ramirez's high school videos, superimposing yourself over Manny, then send the stuff to the div-1 schools.

Or maybe apply to div-1 schools, and try out. If that doesn't work, get a job with the team or volunteer as a ball boy and ask the players to count you in on some horse play after practice.

I don't know.

Seriously, practice as hard as you can and as often as you can. Practice all the time. Find people to practice with and do it.

But try to read books too--if it's raining.

Just like in any recruiting process, highschool to college, you should probably put together a highlight film followed up with a list of your acomplishments. Highlight the good stuff like all-star selections, all-state selections, and other things of that nature. If you come from a small program you have to market yourself so that you get noticed.

Now of course if you team is good it will help you even more.

There is no other way. What else is there except how well you play? Sighning bonuses aren't given for being nice. Play hard, but always have a backup in life and career choice.
