Constantine granted Christians not merely tolerance, but gave them imperial favour status with the Edit of Milan in 313. However, he was NOT the first to grant the tolerance. Emperor Galerius issues an edit of toleration for all creeds in April 311. That edit marked the end of Roman perseucution of Christians.
