that is a hard answer to provide without further information about your children's special needs, gender, age, and academic performance.
however, i will try to offer some insight.
there are several good quality high schools which provide a relatively safe academically enriching environment for their students.
clarke, churchill, alamo heights, and reagan are probably the best high public schools in the city in terms of academic scores, teacher credentials, and safety.
incarnate word, st. mary's hall, antonian, keystone, and tmi are great private schools.
good luck to you in your choice!

There are some really good ones and many people will answer with very different ideas. I teach in San Antonio at a high school. Don't go to that one. But, I do recommend Boerne ISD which is on the Northside about 30 miles north of San Antonio and also if you must be within SA, the NE boundries are nice, then I'd say probably MacArthur. It's a good variety of different ethnic groups and financial groups. Definitely not Reagan or Alamo Heights. Too stuck up and very WASPish. You are looking for wealth and prestige, then I suppose there you go, but if your kids are the kind who might be a little different, like skaters or artists, then those are not your schools. Helotes is nice. San Antonio is very large. In fact the 8th largest in the US. So, maybe you should narrow down what part you are moving to.

I graduated from high school in San Antonio. I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School which has an excellent program for students. The teachers are well educated and the counseling staff is great with preparing students for college. Ronald Reagan High School is in the Northeast ISD. Another good school is Clark High School. It as well has very great student programs and these two high schools have very high rates of students that receive scholarships. I hope that helps.

The school that SpongeBob Fan is referring to is John Paul Stevens High School. It is only two years old, so the facility is state-of-the-art. It appears that the school is already maxing out though (there is a lot of development in the area), as they are already constructing a new school several blocks away. Your best bet, in my opinion, is to look in the Northside ISD or Alamo Heights. Both are excellent districts.

It really depends on what profession you are going into. Some San Antonio high schools offer magnet programs that have specialize courses. Email me and I'll give you different source pages, or try looking into district sites

If you can afford it and have girls...Incarnte Word High School.
They got lots of different demanding programs and also join with the university counterpart across the highway for seniors to take college credit classes. I met alot of their graduates in college and all of them were bright and beautiful girls.
