You just asnwered your question, and the best thing is to ignore ignorance. Hatred comes from within one's self. To hate others is to hate yourself, just as to love is to love yourself. Tell them that sweety!

Because they want to divert attention away from being unhappy with themselves - their own appearance, way of speaking, the way they dress, etc. Not understanding where the person comes from or who they really are has a huge role in this as well. It's easier to just jump on the bandwagon and call someone a name, than to take the time to get to know them. I personally say, if you have nothing nice to say, shut up.

Many have personal insecurities and rather then work on themselves, they pick on others to feel better.
Many grow up in prejudice homes, where picking apart others, hating others is viewed as normal.
Just live the best you can, ignore the rest.
GOOD LUCK

It is that, and it is the fear of difference and the need to fit in with the "crowd".
