Not so sure he's necessarily underrated, but certainly underappreciated. Rifle arm, great scrambler, possibly the best at making something out of nothing. When he was with the Eagles, the offensive line was atrocious, and in all his years as a starter, they only had one running back gain over 1000 yards in a season (Herschel Walker in 1992). Given how good the defense was, had Randall had a better offensive supporting cast in Philadelphia, he would've won at least one Super Bowl.

Cunningham also had a great year with the Vikings in 1998, but they lost a fluke NFC Championship game to a fluke Falcons team.

As for underrated, well, a lot of people seem to forget Otto Graham. In a 10-year career with the Browns, he took them to the Championship Game every year, winning seven times.

Randall was great, considering he got zero coaching. Buddy Ryan was a former defensive coordinator, he used to just tell Randall to "go out there and do something." I'm guessing he's underrated because he was known for his running and scrambling ability more than his arm, and for some reason, those skills make you a second rate QB. I'm not sure why - if you can convert first downs or score with your legs, who the hell cares?

He was VERY good in his day but I wouldnt call him the most underrated EVER nor would I put him in the conversation of best ever. He's not even in those conversations. He made some amazing plays for sure though in an Eagles' uniform. But my most underrated QB could be Jim Harbaugh or Dan Fouts or Steve Grogan.

Randall Cunningham was a tremendous quarterback during his career. Although he seldom gets mentioned with Marino, Elway, or Montana, he very well be one of the most underrated QB's in NFL history.

Are you kidding, Randall was the man. He is the reason I became an eagles fan and have been so ever since.

He never really developed as a pure passer, but he didnt need to. He played in the "Yankees" era of football. Dallas and SF spending tons of money and randall put it on em more than a few time.

Im almost had a hard on when I saw his name in Yahoo answers. Damn, I had a poster of him on my wall in high school. Talk about making something out of nothing? Randall Cunningham.

Thank you, man. You made my day.

Randall was very talented and an extraordinary athlete. He was not, however, even in the top ten of all time. The greatest QB ever would be John Elway, hands down.

Possibly...though injuries did limit him in the mid-90s before he revived his career in Minnesota. He was great in his prime though, I'm sure most people would agree.
