He's does this often and always has since around 3 months (when he started teething). Do you think it's teething or nightmares? Have you experienced this with your little ones?

My son did that at the same age. His pediatrician said he could be having nightmares already, growing pains, teething pain or gas. I would just pat him on the back gently or give him a backrub to soothe him. Sometimes, I'd turn on soft music to help him relax back to sleep. He'll stop on his own in a few weeks or months.

My baby has whinnies in her sleep since the day she was born. She does a little "waaaa"but kind of quietly and sometimes a few times in a row once in a while. But I remember her doing that in the hospital before she came home. She did stop for a long period of time..and now that I have moved out of our old home and have seperated temporarily from her father she has started doing it again..so I dont know if its something emotional she is sensing or if she is just having gas when sleeping. Either way its usually temporary and because she has been doing it off and on since birth I consider it fairly normal.

my daughter is 5months old and started crying in her sleep at about 3 months. I say its just nightmares, she never wakes up from the crying and after 5 or 10 minutes shes back to sleep. Just see if he will go back to sleep after a period of time, if not then wake him.

both of my children cried and whimpered in their sleep at times when they were small. I believe it is just nightmares. Happens to adults too and little ones have very active minds. Might have been something scary on TV or some little thing that upset him and his subconscious brings it to the fore in his sleep, as it does with us grown ups

Awe undesirable toddler probable has a tummy soreness.. attempt putting him to sleep and if he doesnt stay asleep once you position him down, its better than likely both a tummy soreness or he basically needs his mommy to carry him till he receives right into a deep sleep.. i understand thats what my son did and nonetheless does it and hes almost 2.. its really somewhat sweet and priceless... attempt preserving him for like 15 min after he falls asleep and he he dont stay asleep after that than that's gas and a tummy soreness

My 16 month old will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night screaming, but with a little cuddling he'll go back to sleep..although he does this very rarely. If you watch little baby's they will sometimes whimper or smile in their sleep. Aint it cute? lol

Night terrors, maybe? Worth looking into. I would discuss it with his pediatrician at your next visit.
