No, you get a unique chromosome from each of your parents. What's important during chormosome pairing in mitosis and meiosis is that matching chromosomes share the same organization, meaning that the centromeres are in the same location, the arms are the same length, etc....

As these gametes (haploid cells) come together during sexual reproduction, their chromosomes combine to give the diploid cell called a zygote, which then develops into the new organism.
