Best food for oscars is a good quality staple pellet. I like hikari but there are other good ones out there like Omega One wich is made with real sea food. Variety is the spice of life so you should also offer, shrimp pellets, frozen or freezedried krill, frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms, frozen beef heart, frozen silversides, earthworms, smooshed crayfish, bits of shrimp you get at a grocery store for people, and crickets. Stay away from feeder fish, they can introduce parasites and they suck nutritionally.

The largest goldfish i know of is Bruce, the 15 inch red oranda.

Oscars love live foods and meat but I think a high protein pellet food will be most practical. With the chopped meat given ocassionally as a treat. But they are voracious and will basically eat anything although they'll be quick to realise if they are fussy, you'll panic and give them anything they want.. You wouldn't want to spoil them to the point where they'll refuse to eat anything but fresh food or meat.

It really depends on the type of goldfish you are referring to since some have longer fins. On average, you could expect a goldfish to hit 10 - 12 inches in a large tank or pond. The largest if I am not wrong was about 16-17 inches long (inclusive of tail fin).

Oscars are best fed a variety of meaty foods and carnivore pellets. Contrary to popular belief feeder fish aren't the best food for oscars. Typically feeders are malnourished and provide little nutrition to the fish that eat them.

I feed my oscars pellets most often. They get brine shrimp, plankton, live fish, etc. on occasion.
