This will be the most unpopular decision made by Bush ever. Whats behind this? Why is he escalating the war? What is the plan? As much as I want to support him, I think this move is very questionable. It can only make things worse. Am I right?

The far right would be against a troop increase because of its basic isolationism. However, the US in fact DID take out the relatively stable (though reprehensible) Iraqi government, and therefore has to re-stabilize Iraq before leaving. I would not recommend leaving it in a state of nature. Iraq would be a rudderless ship at the mercy of whatever pirates came along: Al Qaeda, Hamas, Taliban, Ahmadinejad.....
Have you even considered the regional and global chaos that would ensue?
I don't know whether Bush has found the solution. I rather doubt it, since I believe no solution is possible yet. But at least he understands the magnitude of the problem.

Like most of his deceissions this one is bad too,After 3000 lost american lives this man wants more dead. He should call back all the american troops and let the Iraqis go their own way but, mr Bush wants to make things more messier, it is for sure that he is using the American presidency for some personal grudge which he has against Iraq and the muslims, and he is not acting in the interest of americans. He is not likeable from any angle, no matter how hard you try.

Even as a conservative Republican, I think you're right. I do't know what can be accomplished by sending more troops to Iraq. I think President Bush is setting the country up for a Democratic president, because it's ulikely we'll be electing a Republican after him.

I of course am no expert on war but I, like most, am so sick of this. Sending our men and women over there to a place where people are so indoctrinated to their ways they will never change. The increase in troops means an increase in deaths of our people. I am on the far right.
