All coins, except pennies, have some nickel in them. Nickels have the most nickel. The authority, the US Mint, has a chart of these, given as the reference.

They did when they first came out a hundred years ago or so. They stopped making them with nickel sometime around the 1950's.

Not much -- nickel metal is costly. Most of the metal is zinc, which is cheap.

maybe...they used to make them out of pure silver, but I think it's mostly copper now....
