Actually, Britain does not have a written Constitution like the U.S. Constitution, therefore she does not have a defined role. Her official royal title is (in England and in other countries of her realm)

"Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of United Kingdom and her other dominions beyond seas Queen, the Defender of the Faith, the Head of the Commonwealth"

Her website is http://www.royal.gov.uk/

By parliamentary traditions as well as international standards, she is:

1) The Head of State of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a bunch of other nations.
2) The Head of the Commonwealth, which is a inter-governmental organization (http://www.thecommonwealth.org/)
3) The Head of the Church of England (appoints the bishops, archbishops, priests, pastors, or vicars)
4) The Fountain of Justice (in her name all the courts make their ruling)
5) The Fountain of Honor (gives her citizens heraldry, knighthood, other high class honor titles)

By tradition and by custom, she does not rule the government and run the countries affairs. But there is nothing in the English law to prevent her from ruling the country as an absolute monarch the way the king of Saudi Arabia runs Saudi Arabia. But her powers are somewhat restricted and limited by these laws, which guarantees the rights of her citizens as well as the Authority of the House of Commons so that she cannot tyrant over them:

1 Magna Carta ("The Great Charter")
2. Act of Union
3. Bill of Rights

Actually, historically, parliament and the king always had arguments about who runs the country, and King James II wanted to arrest Members of Parliament. He failed and as a result of the civil war, the King was executed to the death penalty. It was since that incidence that the monarch of Britain never again (to this day) enter the chamber of the House of Commons.

During the State Opening of Parliament, the queen sends a "Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod" to summon the members of the House of Commons to go over to the House of Lords to listen to her speech.

The Usher carries a black rod and walks toward the Commons chamber door. The House of Commons then loudly slams the door shut in his face, to show rudeness toward the monarch in a symbolic way, and then, the usher guy bangs the door loudly with his black rod. Only then does the House of Commons open the door and allow the queen's representative to enter, and follows him to the House of the Lords.

And Roman Catholics are specifically forbidden from ascending the throne by the Act of Union. This regulation was challenged in the Supreme Court of Canada once, and the court dismissed challenge based on the fact the the Act of Union had the same force and effect as the Constitution Act (in Canada). Therefore it seems that those laws listed above are part of an unwritten constitution.

She is the Constitutional Sovereign of the United Kingdom and of her other Realms and Territories beyond the Seas.

She is the Font of Honours, the Head of the Legal System, the Supreme Governor on Earth of the Established Church, the Head of the Armed Forces, the One who Dissolves Parliaments, issues Writ for Elections, Declares War, supervises the Prime Minister, and as many believe, in the case of major disruption in the political system she could not only Reign but also Rule with the Privy Council (and the support of the Armed Forces) or, ultimately, even without the Privy Council/ Those latter two, under Constitutional Monarchy, would not happen. But if, for instance, a modern Guy Fawkes were to successfully attack the Houses of Parliament while Parliament was in session and most of the MPs actually were there for an "important" vote ...then who else but the Sovereign could Rule?

And that is just the beginning of the "Role" of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other Realms and Territories ....

Also she has something to do with the LANGUAGE ... though many people seem unable or unwilling to write or speak "the Queen's English".

read bloodlines of the illuminati by David Icke and you will find out
European royalty is just about running the world ,but the world is not aware of it.
the brittish government cannot move without the queens aproval ,34 American presidents and many other leaders are genetically linked to the Charlemagnes ,same as the royalty,
Bush is related to the Queen
what happened was that kings and queens colonized countries ,then withdrew ,granted independence ,but left their bloodline behind to rule and subsequently stay subordinate to them,

Kings do not just give colonies away
politics is a show for the sake of the public
over the centuries the power behind the scenes has always been in the illuminatis hands ,this is what the Queen represents
her power as with other Royalties is enormous and is spread all over the globe,in religion and business
the bilderberg group ,(business and banks)the club of Rome(the vatican)the round table ,UN the Yule society all are Masonic strongholds ,all are part of the illuminati powerstructure ,and the Brittish Queen is very high up on the ladder of global control

Well, she could make for a great assassin. She cannot be prosecuted under the laws of any country. Just send her to some function where she meets with an unpleasant world leader or scumbag or president, and....

Aside from that, she's an inbred waste of space. Inbred? Yes; just look at Chuck's ears or Lizzy Boredom's sister who lives in a loony bin. I don't mean Margaret (although she is crazy too), I mean the one that nobody talks about.

The money is costs to keep up Windsor Castle and those clowns could feed an educated tens of thousands of British poor every year. There's no excuse for the waste. It would be cheaper to send them all to a taxidermist, it would last longer, *and* the taxidermist would be the last scandal they ever get caught in.

Since Great Britain is not a Monarchy anymore, absolutley nothing. However, she still openings up the parliament every year and gives a speech. Her role mainly is being a chair person of many organizations that specializing in helping the poor.
She is also still the head of the Angelican church in Great Britain and still has influence their.
She is a role model and the oldest reigning monarch! I applaud her but I think she aught to give it up. But since her Charley has created such a mess with his two marriage, she will need to be in charge of the palace until William is trained enough to take over the crown. Poor Charley he still will than have to follow Prince William and his order/

Actually, since she's a figurehead, she can only advise the Prime Minister and other high level politicos. It's against British law for the reigning monarch to propose new legislation to Parliament.
She is the ONLY member of the royal family allowed to see top secret documents especially those concerning national security. Most of those functions you see her going to are ways for her to bring in more commerce and jobs from other nations for her subjects.
