While the conflict may not have ended, he certainly made much progress. He was able to work out a 60-day ceasefire, accelerated customs for relief workers, as well as many other smaller items.

To LeAnne: You say that Richardson's success validates the President's approach. But, Richardson all along has been advocating diplomacy, not the military action that the President (and apparently you as well) favors; its what he's good at and what he's used time and time again to great success.

By the way, LeAnne, if your answer was sarcastic, I apologize; its just hard to tell sometimes.

I like Bill Richardson. He is well spoken and a professional leader. We could use this man as a President, right now! He is a modest man also, which would be refreshing at this point. But, in the world of big money politics, I am afraid that modest people are not suited for TV. And if you are not suited for TV, you can probably forget trying to be President of the United States.
You have to be more like Bush, all show and absolutely no leadership qualities or relevant experience.
But you never know, maybe the American people will get to know this man and not look for the cowboy walk as a qualifying characteristic.

Here's a bipartisan answer for you - aimed directly at the far left.
The whole damned world has been condemning the slaughter in Sudan for over three years - and the Arab militias just thumbed their noises - a little serious thumping on their butts, and - viola - we have a cease fire, a president who is agreeing to outside help and a bunch of murdering dirt bags that actually want to negotiate now.

So much for dealing with the radicals using diplomacy, appeasement and negotiations, eh? I think this adds a lot of credibility to what GWBush is trying to do in Iraq. When dealing with demented psychos, perhaps a superior military strength and some serious consequences for their actions is our best policy.

The president should take notes from him, that way he can see what talking with people accomplishes.
