I absolutely detest it. Sometimes at work there is nothing to do but you find yourself "pretending" to be doing something productive when your actually just killing time.

You don't want to be caught by your boss because your afraid he might give you more work, then when things do get busy you get overwhelmed.

Having to "look busy" is just terrible. This is especially true for people who work for wages and get paid by the hour instead of a salary.

Has this ever happened to you? How do you deal? What are your experiences?

Oh yeah, I hate that feeling!!
There is only so much you can do to "pretend" you are working and then it eventually becomes obvious that there is nothing to do! I just go on ebay and when the boss comes around I quickly switch the window... hahaha!!! But seriously though, I would rather be busy than not do anything all day.

I was a Teacher Assistant for 18 years and had no problem keeping busy, sometimes I came in early and stayed late to get every thing done.

When I worked in the school cafeteria(before), also I was a cook in a couple of restaurants, there was always something to clean.

I was a Nurses Aide In my early years, during High School, and a few times through the years since, I would sit and visit with the patients, if I had my work done.

Yeah, that's happened to me often. It's much worse though when they pretend to pay you. I have a things I have to do that always make it look like I'm busy. Also, I keep a "work window" open at all times on my desktop since I work on computer all day. Whenever I hear somebody coming up, switch to the work window and look busy.

The FIL is for sure an A--hollow, you already stated it replaced right into a no win difficulty. in case you and your hubby are on the city it should be rude now to not visit, yet, not something says you should artwork jointly in something better than the classic conversational bits and products. If he needs to get into it with you in effortless words turn your again and ignore about him, if he keeps in simple terms go away. Whats your husbands address all this, genuine its his father, yet, you're his spouse, if his father is out of line then per chance your husband could tell him to end. do not you in effortless words love kinfolk dynamics?

Never happens to me. I'm salaried and I regularly work longer than 8 hours a day. I would hate to have to do busy work; it would be soul destroying.

Yes...Working in the fire station you had to at 8am look like you were doing something, anything...Heck you could be napping, who knows if you will get any sleep at night, with all the calls...It sucked if you hadn't had any sleep in a couple of days...
