If you live, have lived, or visited there, list the pros and cons.

Overall, I don't like it very well--and I'm a native.

Pros: Ale-8-1 (a special gingerale,) beautiful rolling horse country, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky River palisades, Cumberland Falls, Land Between the Lakes, Harrodsburg/Mercer Co. (an exceptional community, and the only place in Kentucky I'd voluntarily live.)

Cons: Lexington has the worst traffic for a city it's size, political leaders have a very strong good ol boy network, the job market is lackluster, and the people are frankly cold, impolite, and unwelcoming. (Also, the best women I've dated are from out of KY, honestly.)

Oh, one more con: KY is being infiltrated fast by even more yankees from north of the Ohio River.

Elle: no offense, but I especially despise Louisville. I love many cities I've been to, but not the ville.

I'm a native, as well. And I love Kentucky.

PROS:

Amazing natural geographical features, rich in history, unique culture, UK BASKETBALL!, and when they're not playing UofL BASKETBALL!, crossroads between the north and south-southern charm meets northern sophistication, when people move here, they don't tend to leave (and if they do, they come back), comparatively inexpensive cost of living

CONS:

Too many taxes, heavy conservative influence in heavily populated areas (like Northern Kentucky, where I'm from), BIZARRE weather patterns, poorly rated education system

I have to disagree with your assessment of the people here. I don't think we're any more or less polite than any other state.

I love it here. This is home, and I hope it always will be.

If you do not like the good ol boys, you should welcome the yanks. I would not. These out of town women must see something great in Kentucky! Maybe it is you and the night and the music! Stay home where the living is easy, keep going north and you could get conscripted for the comming rebellion.Worst of all you could end up n Jersey.

Spent two years at Ft. Knox - wasn't my idea! But over all, I love Kentucky.

Beautiful country, wonderful people, and I have relatives there. If it weren't for Winter, I'd like to move back; but I'm a desert rat, now!
