garcia is playing a lot better and turned the season around. mc nabb played terrible and brought them in a slump. how does the situation look for next year. i would keep garcia and let him and mcnabb battle for it but i just have a feeling mcnabb will get it back no matter what even though jeff is a lot better right now.

Garcia as a backup?!?!? what the hell? The only thing obvious about McNabb is that he choked in 3 NFC championship games (2001-3) and then joined thousands of Philly fans when he puked repeatedly in the 4th quarter of Phillys infamous 2004 Super Bowl loss vs. the Patriots. The fans puked because of his 4th quarter red zone INT; he probably puked because he knew then what his legacy would be.

McNabb will make a nice, but overpaid, backup.

This is a no-brainer. McNabb is the franchise QB, and when they started slumping, it was because only McNabb and Westbrook showed up - the rest of the team sent in their Moms to play for them. Garcia has a different temperament, and they needed that to light a fire under their butts. McNabb is much more laid back.

Garcia is having a great year, and wants to come back to Philly. He knows at 36 he's not going to start on a winning team (cause they already have a good QB), he doesn't want to go to his 5th team in 4 years or whatever, and all he would be doing is training the up and coming QB on a losing team. Given that McNabb seems to be injury prone and Garcia knows this style of West Coast offense so well, it makes sense to bring him back.

If McNabb is not healthy by training camp, they will start Garcia (assuming he stays), but it is crystal clear that the QB job belongs to McNabb, and Garcia is aware of that.

I just wish McNabb would take a page from Garcia's book and learn to CONSISTENTLY lead his WRs and not throw behind them or at their feet! That frustrates me about him after 7 freaking years in the NFL. That being said, he is still a good QB and has led this team to the playoffs almost every year he's been here - some games almost single handedly.

McNabbs problem has always been doing stupid stuff. He's had a good long while to watch film and ponder his weaknesses. He's twice the athlete of garcia, and assuming he gets his head in the game, he'll be a sure playmaker. He is capable of playing well, though, and plays well more often than not.

I've always been intruiged by the concept of a 3rd down QB, though. If McNabb keeps off the weight he lost last offseason, I think it would be worth experimenting with playing Garcia on first and second, and sticking McNabb in for third. He's a good passer, and a decent qb sneaker, so I could see some intruiging scenarios playing out. The philly offense has proven they can play under either qb, but it would be interesting to see how well the opposing defense would be able to cope with playing against 2 qbs.

Oh my goodness. you guys must have forgetten the 5-1 start. And you must have also forgotten that the eagles passed more to save westbrook for the end of the season.

Garcia is consistent. But you are telling me that you want to start a season with Garcia over McNabb. Hell Garcia would pick McNabb over himself.

He choked in 3 championship games? Ah how many championship games has Manning gotten to? If you are trying to say he isnt as good as brady, Ill give you that. But name 3 QBs better.

Look, Im love the eagles and I love garcia. But if you think for a minute that garcia can stand 16 games and a playoff run at 35, you are off your rocker.

I guess you guess think delhomme is washed up too? Be more objective guys.

Punt, and draft a quarterback as MC nabb is near retirement, and Garcia is a flash in the pan that can't sustain his performance level as evidenced by his short stint in Detroit.

You are right. But the important thing is that former Gator Jevon Kearse fully recovers.
