No there are NO vegetarian snakes..They utilize the vitamins and minerals that they get from vegetarian prey.A mouse is omnivorous as are rats, these are the most eaten prey animals for snakes along with birds/snakes/lizards/frogs/fish and some will eat worms and insects. Some snakes have evolved to be a species specific prey eater..like the egg eaters. I get asked this very question the most at schools and by interested purchasers of snakes...Zee

Although numerous reptiles have a vegetarian diet, the snake is an exception to the rule. All snakes require other animals in order to live and cannot digest plant material at all. Some snakes eat large mammals, other reptiles, smaller mammals like rats and mice, fish, or even insects and worms. The typical pet snake will feed on mice.

Tame snakes can be taught over time to accept frozen/thawed mice, so that the prey is not alive when fed to the snake. There are places that raise mice for this purpose and kill them and then sell them. This keeps the owners of the snake from having to see the snake kill their prey, risk having live prey injury the snake, and is healthier for the snake in the long run. Snakes like ribbonsnakes feed on fish, which is usually easier to handle than a snake that eats mice.

Nope. Most snakes eat animal prey, a few eat eggs, worms, snails, arachanids, or insects, but none are vegetarians.

there are no vegetarian snakes, nor is there any fossil record of vegetarian snakes, so no, snakes cannot be vegetarian.

Definitely not. If one can't handle feeding a snake, one shouldn't own a snake; it's that simple.
