30 days hath september, April, June and November, All the rest have 31, except Feb. another way is the knuckle theory, Make a two fists, put your hands in front of you. You have four four Knucles and three valleys on each hand. All the High Knucles are #31 days and the valleys are 30 except Feb. Start with Jan. so your left hand is Jan, Feb, March, April, May , June and July, you jump to Aug (no valley) on your right hand and continue.

An older version than any of those already quoted goes:
Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone,
Which hath but twenty-eight days clear,
And twenty-nine in each leap year.
I guess that the language dates this to 1830 or earlier. Versions in modern language seem to be shorter and less complete.

There is a way to remember with your knuckles. Make a fist. Start with your pointer finger knuckle. It represents January, then the depression between the fist knuckle and the middle finger knuckle is February, the middle finger knuckle is March and so on. After you get the the pinky knuckle (which is July) You start back over on the pointer knuckle as August. Each knuckle month has 31 days, each depression has less, you just have to remember that February has 28/29.

The whole thing goes:
Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone,
And it has twenty-eight days time,
But in leap years, February has twenty-nine.
