Any surrounding areas that are nice but cheaper?

Orange County is pretty large... Do you have a preference as to where you want to live?
North OC will be less expensive than South OC. My sister in law is paying $600/mo for a 2 bedroom in Costa Mesa and a co-worker is paying $650 for a studio in Costa Mesa as well. Check the OC Register on Sundays and you can also pick up an apartment guide, usually for free at an AM/PM or grocery store.
2 br in south OC your looking $1500-$1900 depending on the city.

studios start at $800 in my area, which is an okay area of OC.
in the nicer areas, studios start at over $1000 and 2 bedrooms start at $1600 like that dude up there said

It is a nice area to raise kids

Depends on where you go. Closer to the beach over 2,000 a month, inland 1,200 a month
