I am in that situation now at 5 months. My doctor prescribed me diflucan but I am so affraid to take it. I asked the pharmacist what she thought. She looked it up and advised me not to take it. I'm wondering if I and the baby will be fine if I don't. I'm about to research to see if there are any alternatives to medication. Any suggestions or anyone go through this? Thanks

I did get a yeast infection when I was about 4 months pregnant with my first son. I had to take antibiotics for a sinus infection and wouldn't you know I got a yeast infection. I tried everything so I didn't have to take any med's for the yeast. My Dr. told me to use monistat 7 and not insert the cream or suppository all the way into your cervix just half way. It totally worked, no problems at all and the yeast infection went away. Just make sure you do it for 7 days.. My son was born totally fine, and he's 5 years old super healthy and intelligent.. Good luck hope this works.. Also taking a warm bath in white vinegar is a help too. about a cup that kills the yeast. Also eat yogurt with active culture!!

I am 33 weeks along, and I just had a yeast infection a few weeks ago. I just used Monistat One. Cleared it up in a couple days. Talk to your OB about trying Monistat instead, if you are worried about the diflucan. You can also call up a different OB to ask, and get some other opinions. Yeast infections a very common during pregnancy. You really should treat it, because if you just try to wait it out it may take a long time, or it may not go away at all.

its very common to have yeast infections when your pregnant, however if you have reocurring yeast infections, you should see your doctor because it could mean that your body is producing too much of a bacteria that it naturally produces, causing infection. As far as taking the medication (comming from someone who is pregnant, and has had a yeast infection before) i wouldnt take it, but i dont even like to take headache medicine or anything because im affraid of the effect on the baby. I would recomend you buy the monistate cream (not the ovule, just the cream), and use it, also monistat makes a product called "cool whipes" if you use both of those, and also eat alot of yogart it should clear up in a couple days. If it dosent see your doctor again. hope this helped!
God Bless!

I am 5 months also, and have had about 4 infections this pregnancy. In West Virginia I was prescribed diflucan but here in California they will not give it to me. I have seen info on web that it is unsafe and can cause problems. I would suggest using monistat or ask OB to prescribe a cream. I HATE using creams and would rather use a pill for it.. but so many other Doctors have said not to take diflucan! Hope this helps.. and I feel for you.. yeast infections are HORRIBLE! Good Luck!
