I just lost a very, very dear friend of mine to this stupid trend. She was only thirteen, and now she is gone. There is a trend nowadays for kids to choke themselves to the point of near unconsciousness and then release and get some sort of rush. I don't know if this is a sexual rush or what, but why would anyone do this? Her mother found her in her room with a ribbon around her neck tied to a closet door. She did it wrong and choked herself to death. If you have anyone I can talk to about this or a site I can get some info about this, I'd really appreciate it. She was my tigger, bouncing around, full of life and happiness and now she is gone. She was only 13 and now she's gone. I want to learn more about this so no parent ever has to go thourgh losing their own child like this again.

It's called the "choking game" and though it has gained popularity recently, it is not a new phenomenon. When I was in Junior high school some 25 plus years ago I remember seeing for the first time. It's not sexual, it has more to do with the high feeling of getting the rush of blood to the head when one "let's go". It's an alarming dangerous "game" as you can attest. There are actually a number of sites out there, but this one may be particularly useful...

Did you ever get a headrush from getting up too fast? That's the effect these kids are looking for by playing "The Choking Game". Only the feeling lasts a little longer with the game. I remember it being around when I was a much younger girl. People were losing their lives then. I thought it was a scary and stupid thing to do so I never did it. It does kill brain cells by depriving them of oxygen. I'm sorry for your loss and I commend your effort to try to stop more tragedies. Good Luck to you.

Yea I've heard of it, it's not new though, kids were doing it when I was in highschool. But I never heard of anyone using a rope to choke themselves... that sounds more like suicide. Usually one kid would choke the other till they were unconscious. It gives you a head rush. But it is dangerous, just like how kids huff paint to get high, that's extremely dangerous too! I guess the best you can do is make sure your kids are educated on this and know not to do it.

I went to the well-being middle basically in time and when you consider that it seems my kidneys were failing and my intestines one way or the different were given untwisted! the 2d time at the same time as i became about 6, i became leaning over the rain barrow, i became status on an previous crate to get upward push up there and the crate tipped over, i fell head first in and b/c the barrow became so slender i couldnt get out. My 2 brothers (9 and 12) on the time, mutually pushed the barrow until eventually it tipped over and enable the water out. I savour popcorn

Sorry to hear about your loss, It's too sad what kids pick up from eachother mostly because other parents don't try as hard as some of us. We did it in school when I was young. Never with a rope though just our hands. I know it's hard to hear but it sounds like a suicide to me.

there trying to make laws to prevent it. but what are you gonna do, kids are gonna do what they wanna do. also, not to scare you but serial killers like bundy did this. they choke their victims then bring them back. once they get bored, they choke them, bring them back, then choke them to death. for them its sexual pleasure, for kids, I don't know what it is, I guess just a adrenaline rush.
