If you're really passionate, your best bet is to start with an internship. No matter how much talent you have, you'll rarely get hired without experience. You could start on your own, but being only 14, you don't really have the means to adequately sell your stuff. You can talk to the managers of local stores, but most likely, they're regulated as to where they purchase their products. Even if you get turned down, it's good experience for relating to clients. As far as internships go, there are a select number that don't require you to be in college, however, they are hard to find. Unfortunately, if you're not in a major city, this can be even more difficult. All I can say is at your age, what's important is to take the right classes: sewing (or life skills/home ec, whatever your school offers), art, math, business, speech, and English. Fine arts are a plus, too. Fashion summer camps in your area can provide you with more information, experience and even career opportunities. Focus on getting as much experience to add to your portfolio, because without experience, that's all anyone's going to have to judge you by (furthermore, as far as I know nobody can actually legally hire you yet!).

aww cute, I never have the passion to stick to something like that, but I did aspire to be a fashion designer many times in my life. (yeah I don't stick to anything) It IS a hard career field to get into, I've done my research and such, there's a low turnover rate (in other words, people who become fashion designers don't give those jobs up quickly) and it's not like there's a lack of people wanting to be fashion designers. But if you actually make stuff, then you're already WAY farther along than most people get. Most girls I know who say they want to go into fashion design draw the occasional picture and that's it. Try selling to your friends, your family, word of mouth, maybe small boutiques if you think your stuff is good enough.

i'm also an aspiring fashion designer. I've done work experience with a local fashion designer and that really changed my outlook on the whole fashion industry and taught me a lot. You should do some work experience with a fashion designer cause you learn so much and maybe do some holiday courses at fashion schools like parsons or IFDM, i think they offer things like that. then when you've really got a good insight on fashion you can start to think about selling your designs.

Okay? First thing first. Can you sew? That might be important. Plus drawing out the design on fabric and all that. Drawing isn't everything. If you don't know how to sew then learn. Because it's very important. My mom sew dresses and stuff so I learn from her. Second of all gather fabric and stuff you like. Then sew you're outfit and lastly put the decoration. Try the simple stuff first. You know cutting up and remaking T-shirts. You might like the book "100 ways to remake a T-shirts". It's something like that. Then you can do the hard stuff. Like actually making you're designs. Try wearing them around. Like at school or shopping. See if anyone likes you're outfit. Because if nobody likes it then you won't be successful. If they do you can measure their size and make them one. Then they might tell their friends and you will soon be know if it gets far enough. HOPE THIS HELPS!
^_^ Good LUCK!
