A surprise that you have this question in mind on the day you are born in Yahoo Answers! I can see that you've become a member today.

Well, without getting into philosophy and myths related to religions, I feel that we ourselves have to decide the purpose of our existence, and not leave it to the Almighty or some preachers. This is simply because every human being is a unique person with different characteristics, likes & dislikes, mental frame, strengths & weaknesses, his position with respect to geographical/social/political conditions, etc. And every moment in our life is different than somebody else's.

So the most practical thing will be to decide the purpose for yourself. And again, not fixing it once & for all, because the changing times will keep the purpose also changing...

Good luck.

Would the answer make a difference in the way you live each day? Do you think your pet questions why it is with you? Would it act differently if it could comprehend? Do you think any other living thing questions its existence??? Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Be content knowing that we live because we can. We love because we can, we hate because we can, we grow, learn, hurt, kill and die because we can. We do what we are meant to do as humans. Societies we have created give us directions and limits to the things we can do. We learn and grow more by studying what we can't do. I think a more important question is why DON'T we live, instead of just exist?

this world is a great gymnasium and we come here to make ourselves strong. as we were born we live here
we are a form of energy, like every thing has here ,even if u let something rot also ,after a few days there will come some life in form of fungus ,moulds . so this says that in this planets every thing has life, a form of energy accumulated in itself
so wen this comes as a form we are alive
we are the immortals bacause we keep coming back in some form or the other, we are truth , not just our priests,we are this world ,a form a part of it and we can make a differnce in everything here so .......we live

Because God wanted a family. This life is just like a boarding school, we can't pass on or go home until the lessons are learned. It's as simple as that. I do wonder why some people make it all out to be something so difficult.

Because we are afraid to die and of the consequences of our death. Sure, we try to enjoy our lives as best we can. But there is no unifying or ultimate meaning to our existence. And the only thing that can distract of from that fact or motivate us to make up some sort of meaning (ex. God's will, heaven/hell, reincarnation etc.) is our survival instinct, which is primitive and irrational but the most important drive we have.

Most intelligent question. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul.(also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die only the body dies. We are not these bodies,IE; race, color, nationality, religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, ect. This world is not our home it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery. Only one fourth of the souls come to this world. (the less intelligent ones) that's us. If we want to become free form all illusion and misery we have to reconnect to our Maker and the quickest and easiest way is to chant the maha mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from illusion and suffering) Go to stephen-knapp. for Universal Info. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada which gives the Purpose to human life.

We live for our love...for others...
If we are alone in the world then there is no meaning of living.

Because for folks like yours truly, we believe there are more important issues after death.

For those who don't, it's a chain of self-justification for an existance without purpose as they amuse themselves away from thoughts of uselessness.
