If we've learned anything, we've learned that our entire world is run by a select few of ultra, bizarrely wealthy elitists. Whether the war(s) in the Middle East succeed or fail from each of our individual perspectives is irrelevant. The next "thing" that comes will be what the elitists want anyway.

I really don't see what's wrong with being ruled by rich elitists. Elitism is great, it makes sure that inferior people aren't allowed a say. The rich always want what's best for everybody.
