If you live, have lived, or visited there, list the pros and cons.
Overall, I don't like it very well--and I'm a native.
Pros: Ale-8-1 (a special gingerale,) beautiful rolling horse country, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky River palisades, Cumberland Falls, Land Between the Lakes, Harrodsburg/Mercer Co. (an exceptional community, and the only place in Kentucky I'd voluntarily live.)
Cons: Lexington has the worst traffic for a city it's size, political leaders have a very strong good ol boy network, the job market is lackluster, and the people are frankly cold, impolite, and unwelcoming. (Also, the best women I've dated are from out of KY, honestly.)

so why don't you move???? I have driven through there and I have thought it to be quite nice. I didn't notice bad traffic in Lexington. I have had people recommend that I move there because of the mild climate and the jobs in the Louisville area. I believe what you say about the politics though. But then again, with local politics it;s like that everywhere.

I live in KY.
Pros: Ale-8, good universities, wonderful horse industry, beautiful natural resources (Cumberland Falls, Natural Bridge, Raven Run, Mammoth Cave, mountains of eastern KY, etc), and cool small towns. I do like the people though. More often than not, they will go out of their way to help a stranger and do anything for you.
Cons: I totally agree about the traffic in Lexington. Too much expansion too and not enough green space. Way too much emphasis on college sports and not enough on education. Unfortunately the downtown area is overrun by street people and it makes the area look bad.

I remember traveling through Kentucky with my parents in 1974.
We were on our way to Arizona from New Jersey I was 10 years old and had the best time of my life in KY. We camped at the KOA campground and visited a bunch of cool places. I dont recall any traffic at that time but I would sure like to visit Kentucky again!! I remember one thing.....The girls in Kentucky were the best lookin' anywhere!!!!

Too many over weight people eating the worst food imaginable.
Kentucky has the highest heart attack rate in the US by 50% in comparison to the next state.
What are you people eating? Deep fried everything.

I think it is the perfect mix between Ohio and Tennessee. A blend of Northernism and Southernism

I was born and raised in Kentucky. I am warm and welcoming. You're just meeting the wrong people.

i went to highschool in kentucky.
pros: nice weather, blue sky, blue grass, clean air, safe even at night, very friendly people, beautiful downtown(that of lexington), lots of libraries, excellent security system, quiet and calm, less stressful(not too competitive), one of my favorite places to live etc..
cons: lots of farms, fewer places to hang out, too much concentration on college sports rather than edu., boring......
but i love kentucky.......
i miss my friends and school..
