I used to live in Cleveland. About 2 years ago, I moved to a small town in Arizona, and have never been happier! I hated Cleveland (But then, I don't like big cities generally, so maybe I'm biased.) It's like an aging movie star who used to be beautiful, but has turned old and ugly and nobody gives a crap about her any more. I remember when downtown Cleveland was a special place to go at Christmas time to see all the department store displays and high-class merchandise in places like O'Neill's, the May Company, and Higbee's. They are all gone now, replaced by boarded-up windows, empty buildings, pawn shops, and sundry little stores selling junk for the masses. The more the downtown area deteriorated, the more I hated going there. It became just a stopping point to make bus connections, not a destination in itself.
Some positive points: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the famous Emerald Necklace of interconnected parks; the art and history museums; the Cleveland Institute of Art, said to be one of the top 10 in the nation; Case Western Reserve University; the West Side Market (still going strong after more than 160 years); and Goodman's Sandwich Inn (I used to work there--try their corned beef sandwiches, they're fantastic!). The few good things about Cleveland are not enough to lure me back there. I visited my friends a few months ago, and while I was happy to see them, I was glad that I'd moved. What a depressing place to live.

Well, I grew up in Akron and now live near Solon. Cleveland always had the better zoo, the orchestra, theaters, (for plays not movies) and now there is the rock hall of fame, the indians, the browns, the cavs, and there used to be pro hockey and soccer teams.
I don't think the outside world thinks of Cleveland too much. I mean, lets say you live in... oh, louisville KY. You had three days and you wanted to do something fun. Would you think of Cleveland? Probably not. So ask yourself why not.
The browns are another issue. I personally was offended that they lost their two last games to teams they should have easily beaten.
Well there is always next year.

The first thing that came to my mind was the theme song to the "Drew Carey Show". The lyrics always puzzled me. Like what does "living in sin with a safety pin" mean? Does Cleveland really rock?
