What is the best way to sound intelligent ?

I'm smart, but not good at projecting that in conversation.

The best way to sound intelligent is to keep quiet. When you do speak, think first.......and make sure you know what you're talking about.

Be Intelligent. Listen to well educated people, world newscasters, and people who have gotten there. Oprah is a fine example as is Meredith Vierra, Charles Gibson, Tom Brokaw and the list goes on.

Accept yourself as you are and don't worry about what others think. And use the language that most adequately will transmit what you need to project to those listeners you need to communicate to. And don't be so... trying to convince others of the fact that you are intelligent. If you are you are, why need to project such a fact to others?

I find that people with an expansive vocabulary exude a sense of intelligence when the talk. When you talk, try including words that most normal people don't use, such as: dichotomy, elucidate. Just make sure that you use these words properly, or else you will be viewed as a moron.

Be yourself. Do not try to "sound intelligent". Speak of what you know and don't speak as if you know things that you don't. That way you are true to yourself and not just trying to impress a bunch of strangers who you really could care less about.

sometimes not talking but listening the best way. i know a lot of intelligent ppl who once they open their mouths they sound like they never had an education

My thought is
1) stay honest in ur talk
2) little knowledge is always dangerous so dont speak when ur not sure about something
3) dont advice unless anybody asked u for it
4) i think one should be good listener too bcoz we learn lot from others and people are more intersted to talk to those people who love to talk as well as listen to their talk
5) Dont expose ur secrets so fast. strike iron only when its hot.

I think alot of people are in your shoes, they are intelligent but get nervous when talking so it sounds like they are dumb. take your time when you speak and know what you are saying before you say it. as in, have it all planned out instead of just saying something and waiting to see where it goes.

Well, you dont use hip hop or pop culture words. Use real words. Dont say anything stupid that you cant talk your way out of. Dont get into a conversation that you know nothing about.
