I thought a colander was what they kept track of the date with in Ireland.

Yup. I mean, where else would you put it? I do make sure it is empty and clean, so that probably takes the fun out of it for some. I do it when cooking dinner is going amuk, I do it for my grandkids, I do it 'cause it's there. It's a lot more workable than a lampshade.
