I love some of the stuff on Archaeology, people and custom, it was very in depth in many part. The Holcane warriors' design, a few of them are very very very handsome. Other than that, the violence was too much and i wished Mel had focused more on Mayan cultural and scientific achievements and character interaction instead of just the negativity. Plus, the Yucatec Mayan was very awesome!!!

It was awesome and is definitely worth seeing.
The actors all speak Mayan but the movie has English subtitles.
The story is basically about a guy who is kidnapped from his village and is to be used as as a human sacrifice and how he gets back to his family. The actors in this movie are so good all you have to do is watch the action and expression on their faces in most parts of the movie.
Non stop action once it starts. The photography is stunning as is the representation of Mayan culture with its grisley religion and incredible body modifications and personal adornment of the Mayan people. One of my favorite parts is where a little Mayan girl scares the hell out of the big, bad, superstitious Mayan warriors with her predictions which soon come very true.
Mel Gibson did a fantastic job of directing.
I have seen it 3 times with 3 different friends

My opinion is that not enough people will make the effort to go out and see it because Mel Gibson is associated with it. Sad.

Why would anyone go to a Mel Gibson action movie and then complain about the violence/gore. Have you never heard of or seen Braveheart? The Patriot? We We're Soldeirs? Of course it's going to push the boundaries, that's what he does.

I actually enjoyed it. I watched it and loved it. I enjoyed the action and the cinematography. It was full of action. I loved how the movie was in another language, and the music went well with it. I enjoyed the part where the guy was running away to get to his family. Besides, it showed dignity, devotion, and strength. I am glad he casted an entire Indigenous cast. There needs to be more movies like this and not your 1 day "movie-shoots" -bad actresses, and big boobs running the screen;)

I was fine with it till they started the battle and the dude yanked the infant out of the womans hands and was flinging it around by it's foot.....Then when they left the kids on one side of the river to fend for themselves it pissed me off.....The ending didn't answer any questions like what happened to the rest of the tribe when the other tribe went chasing after the guy?? What happened to all the kids....Definitely not one i would buy, but if happens to be on tv who knows may take time to watch it.

I enjoyed it a great deal. Good story well told. And the setting is one we don't get very often. I would see it again.

You can read the "real" stories about these people in an interesting book called, The Book of Mormon.
