A PDA or personal digital assistant is like an all-in-one personal secretary, notebook, mini-computer, etc. I have one (Zire 72) which I rarely use now. I'll add that it also has music playing capabilities, which is the only feature of the iPod. (iPods however have more memory, so you can store more songs than in the memory card of your PDA. The iPhone I hear, is a PDA-phone iPod, etc that has all of the features of PDAs and iPods and more! If I had the money, I'd definitely get one! But it would probably have many bugs on it. Even so, my friends and I are going crazy over this device! If you have the means, get it!
