don't think ole charlie is that popular with the people[was really mean to Diana] not really sure he's all that bright either. Doubt if many in the country much care about the new wife, certainly don't want an adulterer, divorcee as Queen.

If you are writing concerning the United Kingdom, the most recent "Queen Mary" died about 1953. And she had NOT been a Queen Regnant; she had been a Queen Consort, then a Queen Mother, then a Dowager Queen.

Queen Victoria did not "resign" nor "abdicate" so Prince Edward could reign sooner.

It is NOT customary for British Sovereigns to ABDICATE. It seems that the Nederlands may have that custom in recent generations, but not customary for the British.

And why should they? One of the great advantages of the British system, currently, is that Her Majesty the Queen has well over 50 years of experience being Sovereign, of having had weekly meetings with the Prime Ministers, doing the "Red Boxes" ... reading, studying, etc. Government documents and such. She has been Sovereign from before when Tony was born!!!

Only bureaucrats, politicians, and perhaps republicans and other such might prefer that Her Majesty have less knowledge of what antics in which the governments might be involved.

Get your facts right before posting a question. Its not Queen Mary its Queen Elisabeth. She is in shape do preform. She won't get up yet as Charles has done a thing not to be King. They are waiting for Prince William to become the Future King.

Who is Queen Mary? You must be thinking of Queen Elizabeth beside why give it to Prince Charles when she has two Grandsons. Prince William will probably be next ruler.
