my book shows me an equation with just variables and says to solve for the indicated variable...
heres a prob i need help with...

A=LW and the indicated variable to solve for is W....

Another one i don't understand is 4y+3x=5, and the indicated variable to solve for is X

You must be in Math 7. Sure.

Isolate the variable by undoing the order of operations.

For the first one, divide by L, since it is with the W.

So the answer is A/L = W

The second one, subtract 4y and divide by 3 to get x by itself:

x = (5 - 4y) / 3

Easy!

A=LW
Dividing both sides by L, we get:
A/L = W or W=A/L answer.

4y+3x=5,
taking 4y to the other side, we get:
3x=5-4y. Now divide both sides by 3, we get: x=(5/3) -(4/3)y

Solve for W:
A/L=W
Solve for X:
(5-4y)/3 = X

W=A/L

and do you mean X as in a different variable then the x in the given equation?

the second one i can do.
4y+3x=5 minus 4y from each side to get:
3x=5-4y then divide by 3 on both sides to get
x=3/5-4/3y
the first, i can try......
a=lw minus L from both sides and you get
W=A-L

No this isn't solid. How previous is he? would not count number number, wrap him in a dry bath towel and carry him on the fringe of you for warm temperature. this can help him to stop shivering. save him warmth and attempt to dry him with a towel. Then proceed with the dry towel wrapped round him and carry him close. Even tho the top of his fur would sense dry the below must be damp.save him out of drafts and he will warmth up and dry off. that's okay to bathe your kitty if he's sufficiently previous 8-10 weeks. he will ultimately study that he type of likes it. yet for now basically get him warmth.

The problems are just asking you to rearrange the equations so that you isolate the variable (all by itself, with no coefficient, on one side of equal sign).

Use rules of add-sub-mult-div to do this

1st question..

A=LW
W=A/L

2nd question
4y+3x=5
3x=5-4y
x=(5-4y)/3

done!
