What alarm system do u think is best?

I am looking in to purchace an alarm system, because I have had sevrel break in's in the past and I want to know what alarm system is the best. I have ADT in my mind right now.

Be careful, the ADT (and similar) systems usually only protect your house with three door sensors and one motion detector, which is pitiful at best. The systems I've built in the past consisted of sensors on ALL doors and windows. In some cases glass break detectors were installed.

I'm not a fan of the ADT quicky systems as someone can get in through a window and then are only detected by the motion detector AFTER they are in the house! To me that's an unacceptable risk, I want the system to tell me the moment the door or window opens or is broken. Additionally, pets can set off motion detectors giving a false alarm.

It can be pricey (several hundred dollars) but your best bet is to hire an alarm company that will hard-hire in a system that will have sensors on all the openings. As another answerer stated: there are just a few alarm monitoring companies that ALL the large companies contract to.

Go with a show of hands about this. What I mean is---look and see what security signs are out in front of your neighbors and near neighborhoods houses. Get a couple of bids and check the terms of monitoring. BTW, they ALL use the same two or three manufacturers of equipment regardless of how they are labeled. I always thought it is good to spend your money close to home, so, go with a local company that uses local phone numbers and lines. Why, have to send an alarm signal all the way to the other side of the country before they know you have a alarm condition?
