ok...so this is my 3 year in high school and I tried out for the basketball team because its my favorite sport and haven't been on a team for a while. The tryouts were for a week and a only went the 1st 2 days. I liked it but I got tired easily, I felt really tired. After dat, Iwas sore for 2 weeks. My mom told me dat I shouldn't go anymore and besides couldn't pick me up. Isaid I wanted to give it a chance, but she said NO and I won't have time for chores or school work and migth drop on grades. So dis is da problem, I feel guilty of just "quitting" and not telling nobody even though they didn't know me. So should I try out next year?(my mom says ok, and I really want to)Will da other girls on da team remember me and tell me what a quitter I was?

Sounds kind of complicated.

By next year I don't think they'll really remember. I don't think I would...lots of ppl at my school show up at tryouts but decide not to be on the team. We all understand that there are some things (like you mentioned---chores and school, etc.) that get in the way. If people can't understand that well...that's their problem.

Or, just keep practicing and get into shape, they'll be so blown away they won't even care!

Soreness it not a reason for quitting you have to work your way up to getting into shape, but if you are really just wanting to quit and your mother does not want you there then go ahead, I dought that anyone will hold it against you, most people don't even care. Even if they do care, it will all blow over. I am sure they would love to have you but if you are just not up to it I would do what feels right in this case, but remember most coaches think of this a commitment and they may not be as understanding and they may even think that you should finish something to start.

Because you will be in your fourth year you will make the team. For the girls depends on if you talk to any of them in your classes. I understand that yes you are sore and tired and I understand your moms point of view. But if you want to play this year do it. Its great for college apps, great for the health and also great to make new friends. But even if you dont want to do it this year then for next year be prepared. Work out during the summer and play ball as much as possible.

Tell them that You want to concentrate on your school work, and that you would like to try out next year. Also let them know that you need to prepare yourself physically as well and thank them for giving you the chance. Leave the doors open. Good Luck.

If there is really no way to get rides then ( from friends or your mother) then there is no way that you could do it so there is no choice , but if you can thenkeep going you will build stamina and you wont be sore after a while. trust me I have to start WRESTLING season team after haveing a entire summer vacation relaxing.

With that horrible spelling, you're not likely to be playing anyways. Just sit and try to look pretty.
