No you are wrong if you think this will only affect generations to come, you are also wrong if you feel like I am your enemy.. I am not I am your neighbor, as for simple economics ... it's time to go back to school my man,,, you can't borrow more than you can produce and our spending is far beyond our earning.. if America were an individual trying to get a loan from a standard bank they would be laughed out of the lobby.. our debt to income is ..fabulously out of whack..
The only thing keeping us afloat is a greedy Asian exporter that needs a place to send it's junk... and feeble petrol dollar gasping for air.
oh yee of little faith..me ?..

What is to worry about, we borrowed it all from the Chinese. We can always go into default and give them California.

Ahhh..another economist speaks! The war would be saving out economy IF the government was purchasing dry goods, ordinance and tech goods from American companies that were manufacturing here in the US. A war time economy is always good, well that's not true anymore because of these stupid Free Trade Agreements started in 1975 and perpetuated because people, sorry to say, like you do not understand economics. IT IS NOT HOW MUCH WE SPEND, IT IS HOW MUCH WE MAKE! If our solders were not soldiers they would probably be unemployed, jobs taken by illegal aliens or offshore manufacturing and IT. Get with the program, this police action is a smoke screen for the real problem here at home. We need to stop the illegal alien invasion and we need to get rid of Free Trade. Free Trade is only free to the big corporations. Unemployment is down because people have run out of benefits, production is up BUT NOT IN THE US. People don't understand this because these companies are still US companies and their production overseas shows as adding to our GNP. Besides, illegal aliens are costing us directly over 70 billion per year and this is growing exponentially and will hit 200 billion by 2012. Hate what our government is doing but hate it for the right things. Both Democrats and Republicans are in this snafu.

I agree with you that the US making war in Iraq is destroying american economy. Please take alook to american GDP and GNP which are decreased. The unemployment figure is incre ased and production figure is decreased.Ameican productivity came down.Spending for war $10 billion per month is hurting the american people, while part of that amount is corrupted too.The state budget had so big deficit ,so the accumulated government debt up to $1.6 trillion. It is the burden of the next generation espe
cially the loyal tax payers.Besides that how many american soldiers had been killed in foreign countries ?It is the cost for fulfilling Bush's blunder ambition..

Maybe you didn't see it Wednesday night - think it was on MSNBC - every two minutes, we're spending half-a-million-dollars in Iraq. Think of how many teachers, cops, firemen, could be hired with that kind of money. We'll be years digging out of this morass Bush and Co. have gotten us into. And here's what scares me - if we elect a Democratic president in '08, and in '12 - doesn't that mean a Republican will probably be elected in '16 (assuming the country still exists)? Then we can go back into the red ink again. Gimme a break!!

Here is the economic truth about this. United States always does well in war time. Why? The money that is spent on weapons goes to the economy and not some government coffer somewhere. The more money that circulates, the more it stimulates economic growth. The deficit right now is a moot point. As long as the cash flows, so the economy grows. Simple economics.

Oh ye of little faith. Why such a pessimist? One might think you would enjoy seeing America fail just to prove you are right.
Easy bud, we will be alright. We've been in worse times than these in the past and worked our way out. It'll all be okay.

The 10 billion a month will hurt us in the long run. What's the bill gonna be with an additional 21,500 troops and the extension of troops already there? I can only imagine.

I love when people say how great the economy is when we can't even finance are own war. All the money comes from China. So we'll see how happy you are when you have to pay for it all 20 years down the road.

What was our debt before Bush? How much did it go up from 1992-2000? How much money is actually owed to the people who have paid into social security that does not exist?
