I really want to believe that Bush's new Idea is going to work. However, its very tough when even the republicans think its a bad idea. Is that because they also just want to get our people out of there? or did they do extensive work and research that says that this will not work?
Please someone tell me this will help end the war.
God bless our troops, our heros and wishing each and everyone a safe return.

Bush is very lucky, he wins elections because of screwed up ballots and broken voting machines. Maybe dumb luck will pull his a** out of the wringer this time, too.

well, you have to ask yourself, which is worse. losing, or staying. i think losing, i.e., leaving, would be much, much worse for us as a nation. what message would that send our troops? and the terrorists? don't think they wouldn't come over here after us.

truthfully, i don't understand this urgency to leave. what's the deal? how long was Japan occupied after WWII? Germany? i guess i'm not focused so much on leaving as i am on do the damned job we set out to do, whether it takes one year or four.

you have to have faith. we will prevail, even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes. noone ever said this world was easy.

edit: i have two cousins in the navy. and hubby has a very close friend in the marines, who is there now. i pray they all stay safe all the time. and i'm thankful that they're willing to fight so the rest of us can sit here and argue over who's right and who's wrong. but i still have faith that we will prevail. and no matter what anyone says, i do not believe we are an evil country or that what we're trying to do is wrong.

i edited this out and i'm going to put it back in. i think we're actually in a good place right now. because if there were going to be another Holocaust, that's where it would all go down at. we're already in the neighborhood, and i think we'd have a good shot at preventing a lot of bloodshed.

Just more Boots on the Ground won't do it. They've got to change the way their fighting this thing. No more "Door to Door." Police Action.
The President did say they would focus on establishing one town at a time by eliminating the Insurgents then instead of leaving as they have been doing, a contingent will remain to ensure the insurgents do not return.
Only time will tell if this will work. In my opinion there's only one reason we could ever loose this thing. And that is that we lacked the stones to fully engage the enemy like our Fathers used to.

Its not a new idea and it probably will not work. Iraq is basically in a civil war now and it can not be solved militarily. The Iraqi people have to come together which requires moderate thinking. All those people have left because we didn't have the troops to protect them. What is left is the extremists from the different factions ready to fight it out to the death. We will eventually pull out. There is very little hope of a good outcome. I do share your sentiments about our troops. God bless them all.

There have already been some things occur that should have been happening 2 years ago! The Mahdi Militia and Iran's stooge al-Sadr are now wearing Bull's Eyes and the Iranians are being held accountable and prosecuted for their interference!
Hey, we even started softening up the radicals in Somalia!

Ahmadinejad-look-no troops! Just packages being sent "Air-Mail"!!!! Catch!

I too have family in Iraq. God Bless our troops indeed. Look at the success of Bush. If anything, logically, his plan will fail as everything else has. This man does not have big results - if any at all. God Bless our men and women. And God forgive our Idiot leader for what he has done.

Throwing money and troops at the problem isn't going to fix it. The sovereign government of Iraq is responsible for policing the country, and should take the reins NOW.

The only thing I can think of is if we move the troops into Baghdad neighborhoods and stay there and kill as many numbers as possible
