I'm trying to remember the lyrics to a song?

Question

I can't remember the name or who sang it. It is probably from the early 90's and the only line I can remember goes something like..."sitting, staring out the window." It might also say something like..."as time goes on"...I think that it might be the first line of the song, not sure though. I also believe that the song is sung by a female. Thanks for any help.

you might check out some music lyrics website that has the phrase "as time goes by"...That might be the title of the song..however...I can't seem to find my fav. music lyric website from days of old which had search by artist, title or phrase...so I don't know. And Cindy Laupers' song has none of those lyrics..but it's a good try.

Are you sure it isn't the song that goes, (I was sitting at the counter, blah, blah, blah, then something about some coffee, and later on it goes Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da?) It's a really cool song, if I could sing it to you , you would know what I was talking about. Well, maybe it helped.
