Censorship varies in many forms, but it is essentially being restricted from seeing, reading or doing what you want. In China the government has control over almost all aspects of the country. Everything is very censored so the citizens get state sanctioned (censored) news, television programs and even Internet. The people are not allowed to read or write what ever they want and can be severely punished for doing so. That is a pretty severe form of censorship but it exists to different degrees everywhere.

Censorship is when someone makes a decision to suppress (to hide or cover up) something (information, media or other controversial matter) so that others cannot see or experience what is being suppressed !
