Can you die?

The reason I was wanting to know is that I hyperventalated for two minutes straight... like really hard hyperventilating, and then held my breath. I was able to hold my breath for 4 minutes and 15 seconds, and the longest time I've ever done before that was only 2 minutes. I was wondering if doing this could possibly be very harmful? Its awesome to try thought cuz you feel numb and like you can hold your breath forever.

Hyperventilation causes respiratory alkalosis which is a condition wherein carbon dioxide level in the blood is lower than normal. This causes muscle cramps and numbness to extremities... Breathing in (and out) a (close) bag usually relieves this condition... I haven't read or heard of somebody (directly) dying from it!

It depends how long to do it before you pass out . . . when you hyperventilate your taking small short breaths ( as you already know), but more importantly your not getting in the oxygen that your tissues and organs need to survive. What worse is since oxygen isn't coming in, than carbon dioxide isn't going out. So a build of of CO2 and decrease of O2, is what can kill you. You basically suffocate. Most of the time you pass out before the level get too out of whack!

You'll pass out and fall over. You'll do this each time you hyperventilate until you learn that there is no real advantage to hyperventilating. It takes longer for some than for others.

If you hyperventilate in a sitting position with your torso contracted (like your doing a sit up in a chair) and then take one deep breath, hold it while coming back up to an upright position, then get your buddy to push on the pulse on your neck on both sides, you will briefly go unconscious. But thats all I know.

If you do it while driving a car and briefly pass out you can die and kill others in the process.

Not very often, but you will cap out. You pass out, you rob the brain of oxygen and kill off a few brain cells !

You will faint before you die. Once you faint, you will begin breathing again, whether you want to or not!

Yeah, if you pass out and you hit the floor in a way that would injure your head.
