I walked by the post office and noticed that the flag was only half way up the pole. I know we do that when we're attacked and such, but why do they have it there now?

For Gerald Ford. The post office is a federally run operation and as such is required to have the flag at half staff in honor of Ford and in mourning of his passing.

This is standard procedure when there has been a death of a President. Former President Gerald Rudolf Ford died just after Christmas. They will remain at half staff until the end of January.

It's a time of national mourning for the death of Gerald Ford. If you don't know who he is, you're too young to be on here. Go google it.

To say it is because of Ford's death would be correct, but this honor is not just for our former Presidents...it is a sign of honor for someone who made a deep impact in our history. A way of rememberance even after death.
