If, it came to it, I think the scale would tip to McCain. The reason: McCain's experience in actual combat, and time as a POW.

Neither. McCain used to be an independent thinker. Then the hard right, over the many years and numerous elections, beat him into submission. He is still far more man than Bush could ever hope to be.

McCain's troop surge suggestion is politically motivated unfortunately. He now wants to appease the extreme right who have hijacked the repub party.

McCain for sure. He understood that a far greater number of troops early on was needed. He would make the military strong and maybe even cut some military weapons programs we don't need.
