I estimate that it is about 90 because the participants are almost devoid of insight, but they do sometimes show the capacity for composing simple sentences. What do you think the average IQ is?

Gosh...I guess mine is lower than yours! But I'm trying to get smarter every day. My aspiration?...to be good enough to judge the intelligence of everyone else here on YA.
How am I doing? How are my insight and simple sentence skills coming along, Swami?

Probably about 105. From some statistical data I've compiled in the past internet communities tend to average about 105 in IQ. Reported scores with proof tend to average about 110, but as more scores are reported that average falls. I would assume this effect is seen because most of the dumber people are less likely to actually report their score.
I would also assume the score is above 100 because of the over representation of high intellects...
I wouldn't believe half of the scores people on here state without proof, though. Most of the population has no idea what their IQ is, and if they do they add a significant number of points to that number.

As far as Yahoo Answers goes..... I wouldn't have a clue as to the average participants IQ's, but let's just say, I'm smart enough to not hazard a guess !

"Insight" is not just about intelligence, but about being willing to listen to & give thought to other's opinions.
There is also a laziness overtaking this country. "site" takes less time to type than "sight" so thats what they type. Instant messaging is also a bad influence on composing simple sentences. I've seen people type "gr8" instead of "great."
And there are also some people who are just learning English. This is an international site, afterall.

I tend to agree, but you need to realize the number of kids involved-Intelligence Quotient is based on a ratio of actual age relative to Mental age X 100.
Irregardless of IQ, most seem to refuse to show it!
I can be guilty as charged for trying to be humorous at times!
What I find hilarious is the inability of most people to Edit and Additionally post any dialogs!

I think you are highballing it a bit there with your estimate. I know I personally skew the average at least 25 points towards the negative.

You would have to do a measure of the age and culture of a sample of 'answerers' from each category, and gauge it upon the number of questions divided by the number of answers, to understand the median maturity level of answers.
Granted, each top level category is going to have significantly different demographics.

Not nearly as high as mine, but last test I got about 135 (can't remember the exact score) and that's way ahead of the bell curve. I just wish people would use their brains once in a while.
