Hello everyone, I'm in a really tough situation right now. I am 22 weeks pregnant and I'm supposed to be moving to another state within the next month or so. I have a good job with benefits (medical, dental, etc...) and paid maternity leave if I stay at least until March. I was trying to transfer with this same company to the other state but I haven't heard anything back from the three positions I applied for. If I move within the next month or so and have to start over I wonder can I find a good job while I'm pregnant? Also, I'll lose my paid maternity leave and be stuck with whatever they offer, if anything. I'm a good worker, still working full time but I know companies have a tendency to discriminate against pregnant women. How can I present myself as presentable when looking for a new job? Also I'm married but the insurance is in my name because my company offered a better insurance plan versus my husbands. Please help...especially if you've been here before. Thanks!

Some jobs are understading. I hired a pregnant girl once and it was not a problem. she was 3 months pregnant when I hired her and of course she had to go through the 90 day probation period. She passed and never missed a day of work. She got all of her benifits right before she gave birth and was covered 100%. Some jobs will discriminate. It is just a risk that you have to take, but keep your head up in the process. Good Luck!

Do you plan on working after the baby?
Really you're best if you can sit tight until the baby is born. I believe once you quit/leave whatever, your husband's insurance should be able to pick you up - that should qualify as an "event" you should check on that.
You don't sound as though things are finalized with your move, could you stay another year? If not, you're just going to have to go and do whatever you can. Are you showing? You can do temp work and some temp agencies have insurance.

I've been there. I would really try to sit tight where you are. If you absolutely can't then don't worry about what you can't change (the fact that you're moving) and look into getting onto your husband's insurance. When you're looking for work when you get there; you can just be upfront and look for something temporary until the baby is born.

I havn't been there before but lets be REALISTIC here. What do you consider a good job.? And remember you are competing against non preggy's who want that job as well. What have you got to offer except that you can only work for them for 10-12 weeks and then you are doing the mother thing. Then you are gone to them. In their eyes"that was a waste of time"(and money). There is no benefit for them(the company)...and they are not a charity.
That may be the only thing you might get at this time - volunteer or charity work.

You should submit your resume to leading jobsite like www.monster.com, www.careerbuilder.com. Also you should consult local placement consultant in your area. In the meantime, look out for an option to work online. Although it wont pay you like full time job but you can make extra cash in your spare time. I am a part time worker doing work online at home, so I would like to share a link where you can make $600-$1500 in a month working at home. The work need to be done is posting/answering a discussion and uploading any photo/image of your interest. For details visit
http://ommc.blogspot.com
I will publish few more genuine site in couple of weeks, where you can earn money. You may also write to me at talkofmoney@rediffmail.com (Note: When u are planning for a home based online work, be careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.)

Probably not. Technically though, an employer cannot discriminate against you for this reason.
