Good if it means protecting kids from child pornographers; bad if it is used to silence free speech, and cover up a nice pair of breasts in Playboy!

Censorship should be context related. There are times when it is appropriate. There are times when it is not appropriate. We must protect people. In some cases that means you must yield to the benefit of others. A person cannot jump up in a movie theatre and yell fire. That is dangerous and rude among other things unless there is a fire. That is good censorship. Free speech should be protected so long as it does not unnecessarily incite others to riot or break laws. People must act responsibly. The public as well as the individual should consider the true benefit or cost before opening his mouth. To keep and exercise this freedom, we must use sound judgment and restraint.

Censorship is great, we have some but nowhere near enough. People should not be privy to information that might be dangerous, and common folks definitely should not be allowed to go around saying whatever they think. What kind of society would you have then? You would have no control over people at all, and there is nothing more dangerous than a free person. We also need more government regulations in general, and more taxes, too.

In my opinion, mostly bad, but it has it's time and place.
censorship to prevent the spread of varying ideas is bad, as it removes the dialog and replaces it with monolog.
censorship can be used for protection, however; the censorship of sensitive information regarding location and movement of troops, for example, helps to keep our troops alive.
censorship of foul language in the media (mostly) helps to maintain a societal level of decorum for younger audiences.
censorship of hate speech prevents people from hurting other people's feelings (as much). Although this brings us back to the beginning. If you censor hate speech, you stop the dialog because you don't give the haters a chance to expose themselves for the weenies that they are, which makes them an unknown threat, and therefore infinitely more dangerous.
So yes. Mostly bad, although I see a purpose.

Censorship is good when you use it to change the channel on the T.V. when you do not approve but bad when you stay on the same channel and rant to change because YOU do not like it.

Mostly bad. For example, censoring things that are insensitive to race or the holocaust may be acceptable. Nudity and swear words should be of less concern. When in Germany at age 12, my brother & I would save the daily newspaper b/c it would always have at least one topless or nude picture of an attractive female. Good stuff!!!

Good.
That's why this world is like it is now. No one ever wants to set or abide by standards. Crime rates are ridiculous. Censorship is especially good for children.

Depends on what's being censored and why. Example... censor out the bad words on a movie shown on TV? That's ok. Ban books? Not o.k. Limit access to certain books? Sometimes ok, sometimes not ok. I say it depends on the age of the person seeking those books.
